12 We Love: Toy Advent Calendars

by Suzanne Milne on 28/11/2015

Oh the anticipation! Christmas is just around the corner. So what better way to mark the days than with an Advent Calendar.

And when it comes complete with a toy to add to the excitement. Well, Santa is definitely on his way…

1. LEGO’s annual City, Star Wars and Friends Advent calendars are always madly popular. This year’s City Advent Calendar with a little husky is our favourite. ($45 | £30)

2. From the man behind The Very Hungry Caterpillar… it’s Eric Carle’s Dream Snow Pop Up Advent Calendar with a beautiful pop-up tree to decorate. ($13)

3. Discover a new ornament each day to hang on the Countdown To Christmas Wooden Advent Calendar tree from Melissa & Doug, then store in the wooden box for next year. ($20)

4. If you haven’t met the highly philosophical Moomins yet, the 2015 Moomin Advent Calendar is a great way to begin with a lighthouse and 22 characters your kids will fall in love with. (£35 | $70)

5. Two little elves and an angel help Santa pack toys aboard his reindeer-led sleigh in Playmobil’s Santa’s Workshop Advent Calendar. Toddlers in the house? Then opt for the equally adorable Christmas In The Forest with its squirrel in the tree… so cute! ($30)

6. Like curtains on the stage, the The Nutcracker Story Book‘s cover folds back to reveal 24 little books that retell the Christmas story. After your nightly read, hang the book upon your Christmas tree by its golden thread. ($15)

7. Christmas Around the World takes children on a daily geographical search that ends in the discovery of a new fact about how the day is celebrated in other cultures. ($15)

8. Hello Kitty Advent Calendar opens to reveal a playhouse and 6 Hello Kitty mini figures. They’re so fabulous, they’ve almost sold out, but be quick (if in the UK) and you can still nab one here. (£20)

9. Each of the 24 drawers in the Kurt Adler Wooden Christmas Advent Calendar opens to reveal a seasonal ‘character’ that will help you tell the nativity tale. ($60)

10. The characters will truly roll off the page with one of Wow Toys Advent Calendar themes – Wonderland, Town and Farmyard. Each has 24 different characters – an excellent set up if there’s a Wow Toys vehicle beneath the tree. ($70)

11. Schleich’s 2015 Farm Advent Calendar is just the ticket for our just-turned-two farm adoring Charlotte. Mind you, I’ve the nagging feeling I might just *need* the magical looking Christmas on the Farm Advent Calendar from last year as well! ($50)

12. Simple but oh-co-cute Maisy Advent Calendar has a daily sticker. Brilliant combined with a Maisy pop-up and play book, such as Maisy’s Fairground, Maisy’s Castle or Maisy’s Pop-up Playhouse. ($10)

To help you find these great Advent Calendars, each one has been linked to a website where you can purchase the item around the world.
