Carola van Dyke is an artist who has experience in illustration, fashion, art and design. Her cushions were launched in June 2011. Carola’s style and trademark originated from having access to only small scraps of vintage fabrics collected over the years and continental fabrics left over from Tiny Tulips collections.
Carola creates exciting cushions with an eclectic mix of vintage and modern fabrics. Influenced by a passion for colour, which stems from her childhood in the Netherlands, the designs are something unique and special. As a child growing up with mismatches of colourful clothes, made by her mother and grandmother, and a feel for strong Dutch design, the craving for mixing bold colours was a natural way of thinking when it comes to her designs. Exuberant & vibrant in style,using hand picked textiles, they are all individually handmade in Britain.
Carola’s first collaboration was with Ceramics company Magpie (cubicuk.com) and they produced a wonderful collection of our Beasties textiles onto plates, cups, caketins etc. From being a one woman business she now creates jobs for local people, which is great on a personal level, but also fun for the small community she lives in.
