Destination Victoria Peak Garden

Located above the high rise dwellings of Hong Kong, Victoria Peak Garden is only a short stroll from the very popular Victoria Peak Lookout. You can  enjoy the views as you make the brief walk from The Peak – after all, you are more than 500 metres above sea level here!

This park gets a big thumbs up because it offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong – kids can run around and enjoy the playground plus there’s enough green open space to spread a picnic rug and enjoy your lunch or evening snack

Try to plan your visit during the week, as weekends can get busy.

Why go: This is a beautiful quiet park right at the top of Hong Kong and an amazing sanctuary from the Galleria and tourist attractions at the official Peak malls. Take a break here before heading back into the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong.

Who is it best for: All ages – it is an adventure for older kids and brilliant for littler children to run around and explore.

Top tip: If you are catching the tram to The Peak, keep in mind that there will be long queues on weekends and public holidays as well as from around 5pm onwards (when people head up or down to catch Hong Kong’s nightly light show). So time your tram ride to avoid these busy times. That said, the tram ride is an iconic experience in Hong Kong and one that should not be missed, but you could opt to travel either up or down on the tram and return on a bus or using a taxi. One other tip with the tram is to get a seat on the right-hand side, which offers the best views of the city.

Facilities: Toilets and refreshment stand

While you’re in The Area: Drop into the Mount Austin playground if kids need a bit more of a runaround, or take the one-hour long Peak Circle Walk to get even more of a sense of the layout of this amazing island city.
